Advent Day of Prayers for Peace: This Saturday at St. Paul's

With so much violence in our world, peace seems an impossible far away dream. Yet I also believe that peace in the world begins with each of us. In this Advent season of awakening, please join me this Saturday Dec. 6 at St. Paul's as we set aside a few hours to pray for peace in our world, in our community, in our homes and in our lives.

We will begin at 9 a.m. with Morning Prayer in the Chapel, and then at regular intervals until 2 p.m., we will offer prayers for peace from many faith traditions besides our own. At noon we will have a special prayer service conducted by members of Amnesty International. Throughout the day, rooms at St. Paul’s will be set aside for writing your own prayers for peace, or creating an art project, or for conversation. The chapel and church sanctuaries will be reserved for quiet meditation and prayer. In the parish hall we will set up tables with information and displays about organizations working for peace and reconciliation in our community and the world.

Individuals of all ages and families are invited to join us for the entire day or as many hours as you are able throughout the day. You can come late and leave early; I hope you find time to join us. Drop-ins welcome.
